The modular fencing system has a fence panel 10 and two fence posts 34. The fence panel has a pair of opposing side edges and front and rear faces. A pair of electrical connectors 26a with one of each are on the respective side edges and are connected together between the faces. Each fence post includes two side edges with complementary electrical connectors on the edges of the fence post. Each connector on the fence post being electrically connected to the opposite other connector on the fence post. Each fence panel is designed to be located between a pair of fence posts and mechanically coupled to the fence post such that complementary electrical connectors at each side edge of the fence panel connects to respective electrical connectors of the fence post.
