PROCESS OF PRODUCING CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITES, AND CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITES FORMED THEREBY
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing ceramic matrix composite (CMC) articles that includes reducing the presence of porosity and voids within the articles.SOLUTION: A process for producing a CMC article comprises: producing unidirectional prepregs comprising a slurry and a fiber reinforcement material; stacking the prepregs to form a preform; firing the preform to yield a porous fired preform comprising the fiber reinforcement material and a CMC; then heating the preform and a fill material to melt the fill material and thereby creating a vacuum to partially fill voids within the preform thereby infiltrating the molten fill material into and densifying the preform; while the fill material remains molten within the voids, subjecting the preform and the molten fill material to an increased pressure to further fill the voids with the molten fill material; and, while the preform and the molten fill material therein remain subjected to the increased pressure, cooling the preform and the fill material to solidify the fill material within the voids.
【課題】物品内の孔隙及び空隙の存在量を低減することを含む、セラミックマトリックス材料（ＣＭＣ）物品の製造方法の提供。【解決手段】スラリーと繊維強化材料を含む一方向プリプレグを形成し、プリプレグを積層してプリフォームを形成し、プリフォームを焼成して繊維強化材料とＣＭＣとを含む多孔質焼成プリフォームを形成し、次いで、プリフォーム及び充填材料を加熱して充填材料を溶融し、プリフォーム内の空隙を部分充填する真空を創出することによって溶融充填材料を含浸させ、緻密化される。充填材料が空隙内で依然として溶融している間に、プリフォ−ム及び充填材料は加圧を受けて溶融充填材料は空隙にさらに充填し、プリフォーム及びその中の溶融充填材料が、依然として加圧を受けている間に、プリフォーム及び充填材料を冷却して空隙内の充填材料を固化させる、ＣＭＣ物品の製造方法。【選択図】図１
