PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon nitride-based sintered body having excellent sliding abrasion resistance, and further excellent in thermal shock resistance; and to provide an abrasion-resistant member including the same.SOLUTION: In a silicon nitride-based sintered body having silicon nitride as a main crystal, and containing melilite and silicon carbide in a grain boundary phase between main crystals, silicon carbide has at least 4H type and 6H type crystal polymorphism, and a volume percentage of 4H type silicon carbide in the total volume of the silicon carbide is 15-35%.SELECTED DRAWING: None
