PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon nitride roller in which irregularities such as damage or polishing traces on a surface are reduced, and a manufacturing method of the silicon nitride roller.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a silicon nitride roller includes the steps of: preparing a plurality of columnar bodies 1 containing silicon nitride as a main constituent, a plurality of processing materials 2 containing silicon nitride as a main constituent, metal oxide powder having lower hardness than the columnar body 1, and a dispersion medium 3; and slidably contacting the columnar body 1 and the processing material 2 by mixing the plurality of columnar bodies 1, the plurality of processing materials 2, the metal oxide powder and the dispersion medium 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
