PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical joint structure and an installation method of the vertical joint structure that can smoothly drain infiltrated rainwater.SOLUTION: A vertical joint structure according to an embodiment of the present invention is formed between adjacent panels 101 and 102. The panel 101 has, on a side edge surface, a protruded streak 201 having a longer-side aligned with a vertical direction. The panel 102 has, on a side edge surface, a protruded streak 202 having a longer-side aligned with the vertical direction. Between the panels 101 and 102, there are provided a packing 3 disposed in a space between the protruded streaks 201 and 202, a backup material 4 disposed on an outdoor side of the protruded streaks 201 and 202, and a sealing material 5 filling a space on an outdoor side of the backup material 4. The vertical joint structure has a draining gap S1 formed at least in one of an area between the packing 3 and the backup material 4, an area between the protruded streak 201 and the backup material 4, and an area between the protruded streak 202 and the backup material 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
