EXISTING BUILDING EXTENSION METHOD AND SEISMIC RETROFITTING METHOD
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct an upper extension section on an existing building without increasing seismic force acting thereon and to reduce a seismic load on the existing building by utilizing a mass of the upper extension section.SOLUTION: A vertical load (Wb) of an existing building (B) is reduced by removing an uppermost floor thereof or a structure (2) of a plurality of floors at an uppermost section thereof. Then, an upper structure body (A), which has a plurality of floors with a load (Wa) not more than the reduced vertical load (Wx) by removal, is constructed on the uppermost section of the existing building. A total floor area (Sa) of the upper structure body is larger than the floor area (Sx) of the removed structure. A seismic isolation device (3) and a vibration control device (4) are installed in a space between a top section (10) of the existing building and a foundation section (11) of the upper structure body. The vertical load of the upper structure body is transferred to and supported by the existing building through the seismic isolation device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
