PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external wall structure and a joiner that can prevent a gap from being developed in between two pieces of adjacent external wall materials even when an external wall material contracts after construction.SOLUTION: An external wall structure 100 of one embodiment of the present invention is characterized in that side end faces of a pair of adjacent external wall materials 21, 22 are brought into abutment with each other, and the external wall material 21 of one side is biased toward the external wall material 22 of the other side. A joiner 5 of one embodiment of the present invention is the joiner configured such that the external wall material 21 of the one side among the pair of adjacent external wall materials 21, 22 where the side end faces are brought into abutment with each other is supported to a building frame side in a slidably movable manner in the adjacent direction of the pair of external wall materials 21, 22, and alternatively, the external wall material 22 of the other side is used in the external wall structure fixed to the skeleton side and fixed to the skeleton side. The joiner includes a biasing member 52 for biasing the external wall material 21 of the one side toward the external wall material 22 of the other side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
