PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sialon ceramic member that cannot visually be recognized under visible light but can be recognized by ultraviolet light.SOLUTION: There is provided a sialon ceramic member comprising a shaped body in which a fluorescent material sintered body is arranged on a surface of a base material sintered body and the surface of the base material sintered body on which the fluorescent material sintered body is arranged is polished. The base material sintered body is a ceramic comprising: at least one element compound selected from transition metal elements and alkaline earth metal elements; and sialon of at least more than 60 mass% as the remainder. The fluorescent material sintered body is a ceramic comprising: at least one element compound selected from transition metal elements and alkaline earth metal elements; a compound of lanthanide elements; and sialon of at least more than 60 mass% as the remainder. Under irradiation with ultraviolet light, a surface phase of the base material sintered body and a surface phase of the fluorescent material sintered body appear in such a manner that shapes thereof can be distinguished, on a polishing surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
