PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve furthermore corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance of a magnesia-quality refractory for casting.SOLUTION: There is provided a refractory for casting containing MgO as much as 40 mass% or more and 85 mass% or less, and AlOC as much as 10 mass% or more and 50 mass% or less, in the state after a heat treatment under a 500°C non-oxidative atmosphere. In the refractory for casting, a thermal expansion coefficient at 1,000°C is 0.9% or less, and a different between an average thermal expansion coefficient in the range from 1,100°C to 1,500°C and an average thermal expansion coefficient in the range from room temperature to 1,100°C is 6×10/°C or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
