PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the oxidation resistance of a magnesia-carbon brick, particularly a magnesia-carbon brick used for a slag line part of a molten steel ladle.SOLUTION: A refractory raw material compound contains: 65-97 mass% of electrofused magnesia containing CaO of 0.3-3 mass% and SiOof 0.4-3 mass%; graphite of 1-30 mass%; and silicon carbide of 1-6 mass%. The refractory raw material compound is mixed with an organic binder and molded. The molded product is then dried to make a magnesia-carbon brick 3, which is to be put in a slag line part 2 of a molten steel ladle 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
