PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte layer which can offer an electrochemical cell superior in current-voltage property; and an electrochemical cell including the electrolyte layer.SOLUTION: An electrolyte layer for an electrochemical cell according to the present invention comprises a zirconia-based oxide as a primary component. In a cross section of the electrolyte layer, a number-average particle diameter D50 of particles observed by a scanning electron microscope satisfies the following expression (1) concerning a thickness T of the electrolyte layer: D50×1.30≤T≤D50×25 (1). An electrochemical cell of the invention comprises a fuel electrode, the electrolyte layer for an electrochemical cell, and an air electrode which are disposed in this order.SELECTED DRAWING: None
【課題】電流−電圧特性に優れた電気化学セルを与える電解質層、およびそれを含む電気化学セルを提供すること。【解決手段】本発明の電気化学セル用電解質層は、ジルコニア系酸化物を主成分として含む、電気化学セル用電解質層であって、上記電解質層の断面において、走査型電子顕微鏡によって観察される粒子の個数基準の平均粒子径D50が、上記電解質層の厚みTに対し、下記式(1)D50×1.30≦T≦D50×25 (1)を満足することを特徴とする。また、本発明の電気化学セルは、燃料極、上記電気化学セル用電解質層、空気極をこの順に配置してなる。【選択図】なし
