PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate interference among vehicle detecting devices and accurately detect vehicles before and after passing gates.SOLUTION: A vehicle detecting device 2 for detecting vehicles is equipped with a transceiver unit 46 that transmits transmission waves and receives reflection waves of the transmission waves reflected by objects, a vehicle determining unit that determines, on the basis of the signal processing result based on the reflection waves received by the transceiver unit 46, whether any object having reflected the transmission waves is a vehicle or not, a detection area direction adjusting unit 26 that adjusts the direction of transmission of transmission waves and the direction of the detection area in which any vehicle is detected by the transmission of transmission waves and reception of reflection waves by the transceiver unit 46 and a detection area angle limiting unit (horn antenna 23) that limits the expansible range of the detection area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
