PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball joint capable of downsizing a ball receiving member to attain excellent mountability, and a damper.SOLUTION: A ball joint for connecting a damper body d1 to a building, includes a ball receiving member 5 configured to support a ball part 40 connected to the damper body d1 in a rotatable manner, and a bolt 6 and a nut 7 configured to connect the ball receiving member 5 to the building. A bolt insertion hole 53 into which the bolt 6 is inserted penetrates the ball receiving member 5 in an entire length direction so as to pass through a lateral side of the ball part 40 from an end part of the ball receiving member 5 facing an attachment part A2 side of the building. An end part of the bolt insertion hole 53 at a damper body d1 side is positioned at a damper body d1 side with respect to a reference line Y, which is orthogonal to a straight line X passing through a center of the bolt insertion hole 53 and passes through a diameter of the ball part 40.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
