SCUM WEIR, TWIN-ROLL CONTINUOUS CASTING APPARATUS, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THIN CAST PIECE
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scum weir, which allows casting to be performed stably while restricting generation and growth of base metals at a scum weir surface, and a twin-roll continuous casting apparatus and a method for manufacturing a thin cast piece that comprise this scum weir.SOLUTION: A twin-roll continuous casting apparatus 10 supplies molten metal 3 to a molten metal pool 16 formed by a pair of rotating cooling rolls 11 and 11 and a pair of side weirs, and forms and grows solidified shells 5 on a peripheral surface of the cooling rolls 11 in order to manufacture a thin cast piece 1. In the twin-roll continuous casting apparatus, each scum weir 20 arranged in the molten metal pool 16 includes: a weir body 21; and a porous layer 22 attached to a surface directed to a cooling roll 11 side of a region in contact with at least the molten metal 3 of the molten metal pool 16 of the weir body 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
【課題】スカム堰表面における地金の生成及び成長を抑制し、安定して鋳造を行うことが可能なスカム堰、このスカム堰を備えた双ロール式連続鋳造装置、及び、薄肉鋳片の製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】回転する一対の冷却ロール１１，１１と一対のサイド堰によって形成された溶融金属プール部１６に、溶融金属３を供給し、冷却ロール１１の周面に凝固シェル５を形成・成長させて薄肉鋳片１を製造する双ロール式連続鋳造装置１０において、溶融金属プール部１６に配設されるスカム堰２０であって、堰本体２１と、この堰本体２１の少なくとも溶融金属プール部１６の溶融金属３と接触する領域の冷却ロール１１側を向く面に貼り付けされた多孔質層２２と、を備えていることを特徴とする。【選択図】図３
