PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railway sleeper made of wood at light weight and inexpensive.SOLUTION: In a frame-shaped sleepers 10 constituted by members having an orientation in a longitudinal direction, a pair of axial members in which the longitudinal direction is arranged in the axial direction of a rail 21 and a pair of orthogonal direction members in which the longitudinal direction is arranged in the direction orthogonal to the rail 21; a first layer in which the axial member is formed so as to sandwich the orthogonal direction member and a second layer in which the orthogonal direction member sandwiches the axial direction member are alternately laminated, and the uppermost layer and the lowermost layer are composed of the first layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
