To immediately perform transmission/reception of authentication information and a process relating to authentication.SOLUTION: An anti-theft system for a work machine comprises: a communication device having a first communication part provided in a work machine and capable of transmitting a beacon; a storage part storing authentication information; a portable terminal having a second communication part capable of transmitting the authentication information to the communication device after reception of the beacon; and a control device with an authentication processing part provided in the work machine and that performs an authentication process in which, on the basis of authentication information received by the first communication part, a driving part of the work machine is permitted or not permitted. Before the authentication processing part performs the authentication process, the first communication part transmits a beacon to the portable terminal. After the beacon is received, the second communication part transmits the authentication information, stored in the storage part, to the communication device. After the communication device receives the authentication information, the authentication processing part performs an authentication process on the basis of the received authentication information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
