To prevent damage of a device by realizing a gradual failsafe mechanism.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an attenuation device which is provided between two members and configured to attenuate vibration caused by relative displacement of the two members. The attenuation device comprises: a screw shaft with which a spiral screw groove is formed in an outer periphery and which moves linearly in an axial direction in response to the relative displacement; a rotor into which the screw shaft is penetrated and which is rotated in a circumferential direction of the screw shaft in response to the linear motion of the screw shaft; a first mass body which is disposed outside of the rotor and rotatable in the circumferential direction; a second mass body which is disposed outside of the rotor side by side with the first mass body in the axial direction and rotatable in the circumferential direction; a first friction material which is provided in the first mass body and brought into pressure-contact with the rotor; and a second friction material which is provided in the second mass body and brought into pressure-contact with the rotor. A friction force between the first friction material and the rotor is different from a friction force between the second friction material and the rotor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
