To provide a solid electrolyte for a gas sensor that can exhibit an excellent strength even when the electrolyte is exposed to a low temperature environment under the presence of water, and a gas sensor using the solid electrolyte.SOLUTION: There are provided a solid electrolyte 1 made of partial stabilization zirconia 2, and a gas sensor having the solid electrolyte. The partial stabilization zirconia 2 includes a stabilizer low-concentration phase particles 31 as crystal particles 3 and a gap 25. Ones of the stabilizer low-concentration phase particles 31 which are distant from the gap 25 by 5 μm or smaller are contained in the stabilizer low-concentration phase particles 31 in the concentration of 65% by volume or higher.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】水分存在下における低温環境に曝されても優れた強度を示すことが可能なガスセンサ用固体電解質、これを用いたガスセンサを提供する。【解決手段】部分安定化ジルコニア2からなる固体電解質1、これを備えるガスセンサである。部分安定化ジルコニア2は、結晶粒子3として、少なくとも安定化剤低濃度相粒子31を含有し、さらに空隙25を有する。安定化剤低濃度相粒子31のうち、空隙25との間隔が5μm以下となる安定化剤低濃度相粒子31の存在率が65体積%以上である。【選択図】図1
