To provide a polyvinylalcohol-based fiber capable of exhibiting better reinforcing performance than conventional polyvinylalcohol-based fibers when used as a reinforcing material for hydraulic molded body, by applying to a fiber surface, a specific concave pattern that has no risk of causing any damage, without changing a composition of the polyvinylalcohol-based fiber.SOLUTION: A polyvinylalcohol-based fiber has, on a surface thereof, a concave pattern of 5 μm or more in depth, wherein a major diameter of the fiber:a number of concave patterns=1:1 to 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】ポリビニルアルコール系繊維の組成を変えること無く、繊維表面に欠損する恐れのない特定の凹部模様を施すことにより、水硬性成形体の補強材として用いた際に従来のポリビニルアルコール系繊維以上の補強性能を発揮することができるポリビニルアルコール系繊維を提供する。【解決手段】繊維表面に、深さ５μｍ以上かつ繊維長径：凹部模様の存在数＝１：１〜６である凹部模様を有するポリビニルアルコール系繊維によって、上記課題を解決する。【選択図】図１
