To provide a joint device for a staircase capable of absorbing shaking motion by an earthquake without being damaged even when one skeleton and the other skeleton are shaken in different directions by the earthquake.SOLUTION: A joint device for a staircase is constituted by: one skeleton 3; a staircase 5 having one end attached to one skeleton; the other skeleton 4 provided at a landing at the other end of the staircase via a joint part 2; a joint plate support part 7 provided on the other skeleton; a joint plate having one end attached to the other end of the staircase, the other end supported by the joint plate support part, and blocking the joint; and a cover plate 9 having one end part fixed to the other skeleton, the other end part supported by the joint plate, and covering the joint plate support part, wherein when one skeleton and the other skeleton are shaken by an earthquake, the staircase is shaken in synchrony with one skeleton.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
