MATERIAL FOR THERMAL BARRIER COATING AND ARTICLE
To provide a material for a thermal barrier coating, which can be suitably used for forming a thermal barrier coating having excellent low-thermal conductivity and structural stability.SOLUTION: The material for a thermal barrier coating includes a compound X which is a defective perovskite-type composite oxide having a cationic defect type. A unit cell of the compound X is composed of two octahedrons each having six oxygen atoms. The unit cell has a structure in which two octahedrons are arranged sharing one oxygen atom. In the compound X, the respective central axes of the two octahedrons belonging to adjacent unit cells and adjacent to each other are inclined with respect to each other. A periodic structure in which the octahedrons having different inclinations are alternately arranged is configured with a plurality of the two octahedrons belonging to adjacent unit cells and adjacent to each other. The compound X has a boundary at which a periodicity of the periodic structure changes in its crystal structure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2A
