To produce pottery having good design quality and a unique pattern on its surface.SOLUTION: There is provided a method of producing pottery, comprising a first molding process of molding a red-mud base material that contains red mud and Bengal red, with the content of the Bengal red therein being 5 to 10 mass parts relative to 100 mass parts of the red mud, a great firing process of applying great firing to an intermediate product having been subjected to the molding process, a first coating process of coating the intermediate product having been subjected to the great firing process with a luster liquid, and a second coating process of coating the intermediate product having been subjected to the first coating process with a marble liquid or a crackle liquid.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
