To provide a technology for creating a highly reliable database, by minimizing error of the positional recognition of a belt-like sign caused by presence of a defective part.SOLUTION: In a parking frame database creation system, an image recognition part detects a pair of linear line edges of a linear part Ma in a U-shaped belt-like sign M, calculates a virtual center line L passing through a center part of the width direction at the pair of linear line edges, calculates a boundary point B being an intersection point of the virtual center line L with the edge part of an arc-shaped part Mb, calculates a recognition reference point Ra being a midpoint of the pair of boundary points B, calculates a position of the recognition reference point Ra on the basis of an imaging position and the imaging direction of a target image IM by a camera, to recognize the position as a sign position being the position of the belt-like sign M, and calculates the sign direction being the direction of the belt-like sign M on the basis of at least one direction of the pair of virtual center lines L corresponding to the pair of the linear parts Ma, to the imaging direction of the target image IM. 【課題】欠損部の有無に起因する帯状標示の位置認識の誤差を小さく抑えて信頼性の高いデータベースを作成できる技術を提供する。【解決手段】駐車枠データベース作成システムにおいて、画像認識部は、U字状の帯状標示Mにおける直線部Maの一対の直線エッジを検出し、一対の直線エッジにおける幅方向Wの中央部を通る仮想中心線Lを演算し、仮想中心線Lと弧状部Mbの縁部との交点である境界点Bを演算し、一対の境界点Bの中点である認識基準点Raを演算し、カメラによる対象画像IMの撮影位置及び撮影方位に基づいて、認識基準点Raの位置を演算して、当該位置を帯状標示Mの位置である標示位置と認識し、対象画像IMの撮影方位に対する、一対の直線部Maに対応する一対の仮想中心線Lの少なくとも一方の方位に基づいて、帯状標示Mの方位である標示方位を演算し、記録部は、標示位置と標示方位とをデータベースに記録する。【選択図】図8
