To provide a runner protective tube for casting, which is hardly broken in a molding step, and capable of improving mass uniformity and thickness uniformity of a product; and to provide its manufacturing method.SOLUTION: There is provided a runner protective tube for casting, formed of a slurry composition for forming the runner protective tube for casting, containing organic fibers, inorganic fibers, a thermosetting resin, a thermoplastic resin, inorganic particles and an inorganic binder, in which the content of the organic fibers to the total mass of the slurry composition is 26 mass% to 40 mass%, and the inorganic fibers contain CaO-MgO-based ceramic fibers. 【課題】造型工程において破損しにくく、製品の質量均一性および厚さ均一性を向上させることができる、鋳造用ランナー保護管およびその製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】有機繊維、無機繊維、熱硬化性樹脂、熱可塑性樹脂、無機粒子および無機バインダーを含み、当該スラリー組成物の総質量に対する有機繊維の含有量が２６質量％〜４０質量％であり、無機繊維はＣａＯ−ＭｇＯ系セラミック繊維を含む鋳造用ランナー保護管形成用のスラリー組成物から形成された鋳造用ランナー保護管、及びその製造方法を提供する。【選択図】なし
