To provide a core material that prevents the problem of difficulty in screwing in a screw, while maintaining a high specific gravity, a gypsum board including the core material and a method for producing a core material.SOLUTION: A core material is predominantly composed of gypsum. In the core material, the relationship between a compression strength y (N/mm2) and a specific gravity x satisfies the following formula (1).
