【課題】水や二酸化炭素に対する耐性が向上したプロトン伝導体を提供する。【解決手段】プロトン伝導体は、下記式(1):La2±x(MyL1−y)2±zO7−δ(式中、元素Mは、周期表第5族元素を含み、かつ必須成分としてNbを含み、元素Lは、La以外の周期表第3族元素を含み、かつ必須成分としてYを含み、0≦x≦0.1、0.3≦y≦0.4、0≦z≦0.1であり、δは酸素欠損量である。)で表されるプロトン伝導性の相を含む。前記元素Mに占めるNbの比率は、90mol%以上であり、前記元素Lに占めるYの比率は、90mol%以上である。【選択図】図1
