To suppress increase of a pressure loss while maintaining purification efficiency of an exhaust gas.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a filter includes: a process (a first catalyst slurry-attaching process S110) of attaching a catalyst slurry containing at least a catalyst metal and water onto a surface of a filter wall composing at least one cell of a wall flow-type carrier having a plurality of cells partitioned by the filter wall; a process (a first particle-attaching process S120) of attaching a particle of a water-absorbing polymer onto a surface of the catalyst slurry; a process (a swelling process S150) of swelling the particle with water contained in the catalyst slurry into a predetermined size; and a process (a calcining process S170) of calcining the carrier attached with the catalyst slurry and the particle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
