To provide a shovel and a method for a calibration which can precisely calculate the weight of a loaded material.SOLUTION: The shovel of the present invention includes: an attachment fixed to an upper rotor; a posture sensor equipped in the attachment; a cylinder for driving the attachment; and a controller for calculating the weight of a loaded material loaded in the attachment by a predetermined operational expression on the basis of the value detected by the posture sensor and the cylinder. The controller calibrates the operational expression on the basis of the position of the hook detected by the posture sensor and the input weight of the loaded material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
