To obtain a scattering prevention device for preventing an object from being scattered from a top floor of a building during demolition in a simple configuration and a low cost, and a scattering prevention method.SOLUTION: The scattering prevention device comprises: a protective material capable of covering an upper end of a building 1; a protective material support body 103 to which an end edge of the protective material is connected; a guide member fixed to a wall surface of the building for guiding the protective material support body 103 movably in a vertical direction; and a drive device 15 for moving the protective material support body 103 in the vertical direction. The protective material support body 103 comprises a plurality of support body units 135 coupled in a length direction by a coupling member 104 each other, and the coupling member 104 can release a mutual coupling of the support body units 135.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
