METHOD FOR PRODUCING CARBON FIBER-REINFORCED SILICON CARBIDE-BASED COMPOSITE MATERIAL, AND CARBON FIBER-REINFORCED SILICON CARBIDE-BASED COMPOSITE MATERIAL
To provide a method for producing a carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide-based composite material, capable of producing the carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide-based composite material that is excellent in moldability, has high mechanical strength, and is excellent in thermal conductivity; and to provide a carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide-based composite material.SOLUTION: A method for producing a carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide-based composite material includes: molding a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic using a sheet molding compound that comprises a carbon fiber and a matrix resin; calcinating the carbon fiber-reinforced plastic to make a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material; and melt-impregnating a metal Si to the carbon fiber-reinforced carbon composite material. In the carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide-based composite material, a cross-section obtained by cutting the composite material in a pressure direction at the time of molding has stripe-shaped impregnated parts comprising one or both of the metal Si and silicon carbide, and the stripes in the stripe-shaped impregnated parts are stretched in a random direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
