To provide a fiber reinforced resin rod capable of suppressing partial non-uniformity of fiber volume content in the length direction and maintaining good overall strength, and a method for producing such a fiber reinforced resin rod.SOLUTION: A fiber reinforced resin rod 11 has a core portion 12 composed of a fiber bundle 15 in which fibers 14 extending in one direction are bundled and a matrix resin impregnated in the fiber bundle, and a covering portion 13 covering a peripheral surface of the core portion. The covering portion is composed of a plurality of reinforcing fiber yarns 17 and 18 which are knitted in a braided state on the peripheral surface of the core portion so as to cover the entire peripheral surface of the core portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
