To provide a dimmer having higher design.SOLUTION: A dimmer 20 includes a dimming film 1 and a control unit 23. The dimming film 1 is a guest-host type that includes a liquid crystal material and a dichroic dye and has a liquid crystal layer 8 in which transmittance of light changes due to potential difference between two electrodes. In a case of first potential difference, the dimming film becomes a light shielding state, and in a case of second potential difference larger than the first potential difference, becoming a light transmissive state. The dimming film 1 is divided into segments SG1 to SG7. The control unit 23 is capable of individually switching potential difference between the first potential difference and the second potential difference relative to the segments SG 1 to SG 7. When switching the dimming film 1 from the light transmissive state to the light shielding state, the control unit switches potential difference in the segment sequentially from the second potential difference to the first potential difference every predetermined time T along an arrangement direction of the segments SG 1 to SG 7 in order.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
【課題】より意匠性の高い調光装置を提供する。【解決手段】調光装置２０は、調光フィルム１と制御部２３とを備える。調光フィルム１は、液晶材料と二色性色素とを含むゲストホスト型であって２つの電極の間の電位差によって光の透過率が変化する液晶層８を備え、第１の電位差の場合に遮光状態となり、第１の電位差よりも大きい第２の電位差の場合に透光状態となる。調光フィルム１は、セグメントＳＧ１〜ＳＧ７に分割されている。制御部２３は、セグメントＳＧ１〜ＳＧ７に対して、個別に、電位差を第１の電位差と第２の電位差との間で切り替え可能であり、調光フィルム１を透光状態から遮光状態へと切り替えるときに、セグメントＳＧ１〜ＳＧ７の配列方向に沿って、所定の時間Ｔごとに、順に、セグメントにおける電位差を第２の電位差から第１の電位差に切り替える。【選択図】図５
