To provide a frame unit that can reduce the work load of attaching another sash to an existing frame and a method of constructing a frame unit.SOLUTION: A frame unit (100) includes a new frame (3) attached to the existing frame for sash fixed to the opening of the building and an auxiliary member (2) arranged between the new frame and the existing frame, which is configured to be movable in the in-plane direction of the opening with respect to the existing frame and to be locked to the existing frame and which can adjust the position of the new frame with respect to the existing frame by being joined to the existing frame at an arbitrary position. The new frame is fixed to the auxiliary member and can move together with the auxiliary member locked to the existing frame.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
