To provide a girder replacement method and a bridge pier removal method capable of improving the workability of replacement work and improving earthquake resistance.SOLUTION: A girder replacement method according to an embodiment of the present invention is a girder replacement method for an existing river crossing bridge including the steps of: installing a new main girder base 10 for raising a foundation on an existing bridge pier 2; erecting a new girder 13 on the new main girder base 10; installing a new sleeper bearing girder 11 on the new girder 13; and removing an existing girder 3 attached to the existing bridge pier 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
