To provide a mechanical parking device and a charging method for an electric vehicle, capable of reducing introduction costs of charging facilities.SOLUTION: A mechanical parking device 1 comprises: a plurality of palette 3 provided with a charging terminal 31 connectable to a placed electric vehicle 2; a plurality of storage shelves 4 capable of storing the palettes 3; and a controller 5 controlling transportation of the palettes 3, wherein the plurality of storage shelves 4 include at least one charging shelf 4a provided with a charging device 41 connectable with the charging terminal 31, and at least one empty shelf 4b in a state no palette 3 is stored.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
