To provide an authentication system for quickly performing locking/unlocking authentication with a simple configuration even when handling a large amount of key data is necessary.SOLUTION: A system, which is configured to conduct a communication via a network, between an electric lock device having a locking/unlocking mechanism for locking/unlocking a key and lock-side authentication information storage means for storing a plurality of first authentication codes that authenticate the authority to lock/unlock the key; and a management server having server-side authentication information storage means 11 for a plurality of second authentication codes to authenticate the authority, executes: a code input reception process S1; a first authentication process S2 for executing a code authentication with reference to the lock side authentication information storage means; a second authentication process S6 for executing the a code authentication with reference to the server side authentication information storage means when the code does not match any of the first authentication codes; a storage process S8 for storing the second authentication code as the first authentication code in the lock side authentication information storage means when the code matches any of the second authentication codes; and a locking/unlocking control process S4 for locking/unlocking the key according to the authentication result.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
