To provide a steel plate fixing method and a steel plate fixing structure for avoiding upward welding when fixing a steel plate to the upper end of an H-steel pile.SOLUTION: In a steel plate fixing method for fixing a steel plate 7 for forming a smooth surface at an upper end of an existing H-steel pile 5, a protruding portion 25 that protrudes upward from other portions by a protruding amount smaller than a plate thickness of the steel plate 7 at an upper end surface 5a of the H-steel pile 5 is formed at an upper end of a web 23 of the H-steel pile 5. A through hole 31 into which the protruding portion 25 is inserted is formed so as to penetrate the steel plate 7 in a plate thickness direction. Fillet welding is applied to corners of a peripheral edge of an upper end surface 25a of the protruding portion 25 inserted into the through hole 31 and an inside surface 31a of the through hole 31.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
