COLUMNAR HONEYCOMB FIRED BODY PRODUCTION METHOD
To provide a columnar honeycomb fired body production method capable of contributing to yield improvement.SOLUTION: A production method has: a step A of producing a columnar honeycomb molded body; a step B of drying the columnar honeycomb molded body to obtain a columnar honeycomb dried body; a step C of calculating prescribed parameters (EAVE1, EAVE2, EAVE3 and EAVE4) based on the average value of a distance between the centroid positions O in prescribed plural angle ranges and an outer circumferential contour regarding a cross section vertical to a direction in which the cells of the columnar honeycomb dried body extend; a step D of identifying the minimum value in the parameters calculated in the step C; and a step E of mounting the columnar honeycomb dried body on a shelf board in such a manner that the direction in which the cells of the columnar honeycomb dried body extend is made parallel to a vertical direction and the part of a prescribed outer circumferential side face determined in accordance with the minimum value is located at a head and firing the same while being passed through the inside of a continuous firing furnace to obtain a columnar honeycomb fired body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
