To provide an opening building material which is excellent in design without allowing a surface material unit to be visually recognized in view both from the outdoor side and from the indoor side.SOLUTION: The opening building material includes the frame body adapted to be mounted to the inner periphery side of a body opening of a building, and formed by doing framework of an upper frame, a lower frame, and right and left vertical frames, at least one surface material unit adapted to be mounted to the inner periphery side of the frame body in a slidably movable manner, and formed by doing framework of an upper frame, a lower frame, and light and left vertical frames, an outdoor side wall part and an indoor side wall part provided on the outdoor side and on the indoor side of the frame body, respectively, for shielding the inner periphery side of the frame body while leaving a window opening, and a storage space part formed between the outdoor side wall part and the indoor side wall part to store the surface material unit of which the window opening is set in a fully opened state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
