To provide a gypsum building material with improved fire resistance, in particular, capable of at least significantly delaying a time taken until a fire breaks through to a back side of a dry type wall structure.SOLUTION: The gypsum building material contains at least gypsum, H-siloxane and/or amorphous silicon dioxide, and optionally further additives, wherein the H-siloxane is uniformly distributed in the gypsum building material, and/or is applied on at least one surface of the gypsum building material. The gypsum building material under an influence of a temperature of at least 80°C has a longer expansion stage than a gypsum building material that does not contain H-siloxane and/or amorphous silicon dioxide, and has the same composition other than that.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
