To provide a viscous fluid for vibration control dampers that offers high attenuation force, superior repeatability, and low temperature dependence, as well as a vibration control damper.SOLUTION: A viscous fluid for vibration control dampers is provided that contains the following components (A) and (B). Based on 100 pts.mass of (A), the amount of (B) is 100 to 400 pts.mass. Also provided is a vibration control damper using the same as the viscous fluid. Component (A) is a high-molecular-weight polybutadiene with a Mooney viscosity of 10 to 100 at 100°C, and (B) is a low-molecular-weight butadiene-based polymer with a weight-average molecular weight of 5,000 to 100,000.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
