To provide a honeycomb filter having high mechanical strength and capable of effectively suppressing an increase in pressure loss when used by carrying a catalyst for exhaust gas purification.SOLUTION: There is provided a honeycomb filter which comprises a columnar honeycomb structure 4 having a porous partition wall 1 disposed so as to surround a plurality of cells 2 which serve as fluid flow paths extending from a first end surface 11 to a second end surface 12 and plugged parts 5 disposed at an opening on the first end surface 11 side or the second end surface 12 side of the respective cell 2. The thickness of the partition wall 1 is 203 to 254 μm. The porosity of the partition wall 1 measured by a mercury penetration method is 55 to 70%. The average pore diameter of the partition wall 1 measured by the mercury penetration method is 20 to 25 μm. In the partition wall 1, the average substrate neck diameter of a substrate neck part in which an entity part of a porous substrate constituting the partition wall 1 becomes locally thin is 11 to 18 μm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
