To provide a runner, and a wall backing material and a wall backing construction method which facilitate the attachment of the runner to a steel beam and reduce an effort and cost required for the attachment of the runner.SOLUTION: A runner A comprises a runner body part 1 that is formed into a cross-sectional U shape and formed from a horizontal plane 11 and a pair of vertical planes 12, and a runner attachment part 2 formed from a flange 21F extending from the same height as the horizontal plane 11 toward the outside at both of the pair of vertical planes 12 of the runner body part 1, and this runner A is attached by fixing the runner attachment part 2 to the ceiling and/or the floor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
