To provide a support structure capable of absorbing impact energy even when impact force acts on any place of a support body, in the support structure of a guard fence in which the support body is installed on a sill serving as a foundation.SOLUTION: A support structure of a protective fence 10 comprises a base plate 40 which is placed on a sill and on which a support body is erected, and a guide mechanism for guiding the movement of the base plate and the support body on the sill from a mountain side to a valley side of a ground slope, the guide mechanism comprises a holding member fixed to the sill and holding the base plate with a predetermined holding force, a long hole formed in the holding member, and a penetrating member attached to the base plate and penetrating the long hole; the holding force of the holding member is such that the base plate and the support body can be guided by the guide mechanism to move to the valley side when the protective fence catches a fallen stone and a load of a predetermined value or more acts on the base plate to the valley side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
