The element (1) has a profile body (2) made of metal or plastic in which openings (5) are formed. The body has two separately constructed longitudinal sections with respective longitudinal edges. Each section has an elongated section and connecting sections projected over the elongated section. A set of reinforcing beads runs in a longitudinal direction of the longitudinal sections. Another set of reinforcing beads running transversely to the former set of beads are connected to the former set of beads. The latter set of beads is extended into the connecting sections. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a thin-walled, cold-formed lightweight profile element.
