The present invention relates to an apparatus to prevent a pipe from freezing and bursting, comprising: a temperature sensor installed outside a house or inside a protection container of a water meter; a controller provided with temperature information from the temperature sensor; a hydrant installed in a sink or a bathroom of a house; and a control valve installed in one side of the hydrant, opening or closing a pipe in accordance with operation of the controller. As the temperature sensor continuously senses an external temperature, the control valve is opened a little if the temperature goes down below a predetermined temperature such that a small amount of tap water is continuously drained through the hydrant; thereby preventing the pipe from freezing and bursting.
가옥의 외부나 수도미터기 보호통의 내부에 설치되는 온도감지부와, 온도감지부로부터 온도 정보를 제공받는 제어기와, 가옥의 싱크대 또는 욕실에 설치되는 급수전과, 급수전의 일측에 설치되어 제어기의 구동에 따라 배관을 개폐하는 조절밸브를 포함하여, 온도감지부로 외부 온도를 지속적으로 감지하여 설정된 온도 이하로 기온이 하강하면 조절밸브를 소량 개방함으로써, 급수전을 통해 소량의 수돗물이 지속적으로 배출되어 배관의 동파를 방지하는 것을 특징으로 하는 동파방지장치에 관한 것이다.
