The present invention relates to a flame retardant fiber-matrix semi-finished product comprising polycarbonate as a thermoplastic matrix material, and a use thereof as a component subjected to increased flame retardancy requirements. The flame retardant fiber-matrix semi-finished product of the present invention can be preferably used as a casing material for electrical or electronic parts and, particularly preferably used as a casing for IT equipment, which is particularly a part for shielding short-circuit induced arc flash in circuit breakers, in particular, for flat screen monitors, laptops, mobile phones or tablet computers. In general, the flame retardant fiber-matrix semi-finished product can be used as a flame barrier in a building, a car, a commercial vehicle, as well as in ship transportation and public transportation.
