FIELD: measuring equipment.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrometry and is intended to determine the watercourses flow rates in hydrological and ecological studies, for example, engineering and hydro meteorological, and engineering-ecological surveys. In the proposed watercourses flow rates determining method, the measuring point is located in the watercourse channel with the most favorable conditions for the hydrometric operations performance above the hydrographic unit two watercourses confluence and measuring the flow rates by the known method, for example, «speed – area». Flow rates of another watercourse with less favorable conditions for conducting hydrometric operations are determined analytically by the water physical and chemical properties parameters ratio, for example, temperature, mineralization, individual ions content, pH, redox potential, etc., measured above the watercourses confluence and below – at the waters complete mixing point.EFFECT: proposed watercourses flow rates determination method allows practically twice reduction of material costs and adverse environmental impacts onto water systems, increase the water flow rates determination reliability in the watercourses with adverse conditions for their conducting, and to shorten the working time.1 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
