Cutting tool for machining abrasive materials, notably wood-based materials
The invention relates to a cutting tool for machining abrasive materials, such as a material made of wood particles, by material stripping, said tool being characterised in that it consists of a mounting provided with at least one machining element and in which at least the machining edge is made up of a small plate of highly homogeneous oxide ceramic, made of Al2O3 and ZrO2, said small plate being obtained from: a homogeneous Al2O3-XZrO mixture of * nanoparticles of Al2O3 with mean size smaller than 1 μm, and * nanoparticles of ZrO2 with tetragonal structure and mean size smaller than that of the particles of Al2O3, * the X content of ZrO2 being 5 to 20 wt % of ZrO2 relative to the total weight, the mixture being arranged in plate form by the sol-gel process followed by fritting or cold controlled isostatic pressing, and the plate (or the small plates resulting from the division of the plate) being mechanically sharpened in order to form the cutting edge.
