Ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Asphalt (304) aus einem eine Restfeuchte aufweisenden Schüttgut (301) und Bitumen (302), wobei das Schüttgut (301) mit überhitztem Wasserdampf beaufschlagt wird, um die Restfeuchte im Schüttgut (301) zu reduzieren und wobei das Schüttgut (302) reduzierter Restfeuchte mit Bitumen (303) zum Erhalt von Asphalt (304) vermengt wird. Es gibt auch eine Verwendung von überhitztem Wasserdampf in der Asphaltherstellung und eine Vorrichtung (200, 300, 400) zur Reduktion einer Restfeuchte eines Schüttguts.
